Our family recently attended the graduation ceremony for our oldest son, Jonathan. Excitement was high and the outdoor stadium was beautiful, but warm. Gradually, the clouds cleared, and the sun’s intensity increased. Soon there was no escape from the heat.

“I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection” (Philippians 3:10) A part of me is embarrassed by the resurrection. The cross is a clean and simple, though gracious, transaction. But in a world that has been anesthetized to the pain of death by religious and scientific reassurances, preaching relief from that pain is a non sequitur.

Children's Ministry Update: In the springtime, I love looking outside to see signs of spring coming. Birds singing, flowers poking up from the ground and hints of new life are all around. Another place that I’m seeing God working is downstairs in our Children’s Ministry. During Sunday School and Children’s Worship, there are signs of life and seeds being planted.
Emily, her husband Jay, and their son Vee began visiting CCC last Fall. It soon became evident that she is a great fit for our new Director of Assimilation and Church Life position, so she started on March 1. Emily will help build relationships so people can find their place in the life of the church.
