Our Story
Byron Peters and Greg Norfleet began talking about planting a church together in Chapel Hill in 2004 when they both were pastors at the The Church of the Good Shepherd (CGS) in Durham. In keeping with the CGS mission to start new churches in surrounding areas, Byron, Greg and a group of about 80 of us were sent to plant Christ Community Church (CCC) in Chapel Hill.
Since the first church service on August 7, 2005, we continue to be grateful for the remarkable work God has done in growing the CCC church plant into a vibrant Gospel-believing and established community church. We have fully functioning and successful Children’s and Youth Sunday School Programs, active Global Ministries and a Mercy Ministry, a thoughtful, Bible-based Christian Education curriculum, vibrant Community Groups, attractive Women’s and College Ministries and much more.
But perhaps most intriguing to those who continue to fill our doors is the genuine love people at CCC demonstrate towards our visitors and each other. We enjoy meeting and getting to know people and we are a community that welcomes visitors and those seeking to know more about Jesus.
