Our Leadership
We have two pastors helping lead Christ Community Church along with our other church leaders. Byron and Greg have been friends for 25 years and both love the town of Chapel Hill. You can read more about how the idea for CCC began on the Our Story page. For further answers to questions about CCC, please contact Byron or Greg.
Rev. Byron Jay Peters
Byron grew up in Owensboro, Kentucky. After graduating from the University of Kentucky, he joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ at UNC, where he worked for 12 years. This is where Byron and Greg first met and began to form their lifelong friendship. UNC is also where Byron met Ruby Bea, and they married in 1987. God blessed them by growing their family to include 4 beautiful children: Walt, Jay, John Martin and Layson.
For further training in becoming a pastor, Byron earned a Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from the International School of Theology in California. He has served in pastoral ministry since 1999 in churches in the Durham-Chapel Hill area.
Rev. Greg Norfleet
Greg Norfleet grew up in Chapel Hill. He met his future wife at UNC, and after graduating, he married Cindy and they joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Georgia in 1987. They served with Campus Crusade for 10 years. During the course of this time, they had two kids of their own, Evan and Nathan.
For Greg's studies in becoming a pastor, he earned a Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry from Westminster Theological Seminary. Greg has served in pastoral ministry since 1997 in churches in the Chapel Hill-Durham area.
