Counseling Ministry

Wise counsel is a rare thing in the world today. We want to make it less rare for people in Chapel Hill.

We believe the Bible is inexhaustibly rich and personally relevant to the full range of struggles we face, including those that are complex and commonly called “counseling issues.” The Bible speaks wisely to interpret the problems we face, right down to the details of our life story. It also speaks lovingly to resolve these problems by connecting us to the transforming mercy and grace of a Person, Jesus Christ.

From the Bible’s perspective, lasting change and enduring comfort happens in a community that cares—the church that Jesus builds. Each of us needs friends who are committed to listening, understanding, and walking alongside us, especially in times of trouble. For these reasons, we are equipping our church to become a “community of counselors.”

We take seriously our responsibility to help one another follow Jesus, and we aim to provide wise, compassionate, biblical counsel in a variety of contexts. Whether you seek help from one of our leaders or members or small groups, our hope is that you will experience constructive conversations that are shaped by God’s loving truth and truthful love.

The Bible describes Jesus Christ as the Wonderful Counselor, and Jesus himself described his mission on earth, saying, “[God] has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives” (Isaiah 61:1). Our Counseling Ministry seeks to be an instrument in the hands of this most wise and wonderful of counselors.
